2017 Bangus Festival starts today, April 16
THIS year’s Bangus Festival will officially start today, April 16, in a fun-filled ceremony at the Tondaligan Blue Beach.
Epee R. Rafanan, 2017 Bangus Festival executive chairman, said Mayor Belen T. Fernandez will declare the formal start of the 2017 Bangus Festival with the ‘Bangus Flash Parade’ early morning along the Tondaligan road.
Rafanan said the concept behind the Bangus Flash Parade is to organize people from all directions to march with the University of Luzon Drum and Bugle Corps to the venue.
Following the formal declaration of the start of the festival, Fernandez and Rafanan will lead the releasing of balloons in the air to symbolize how the city’s climb to greater high as envisioned by the mayor under her Balon Dagupan flagship program.
The Tondaligan Blue Beach was chosen as the venue for the parade to illustrate the city government’s continuing efforts to introduce dramatic reforms. Tondaligan has been cleared of eyesores that plagued the area for decades.
Rafanan added the parade in Tondaligan will showcase Tondaligan (and Dagupan) as a major tourist destination in the north.
The grand opening program will be a whole-day affair that will feature Zumbangus, Galaw na Ogogaw, Sayawan ed Tondaligan, skim boarding, sand sculpture.
The Zumbangus and the Sayawan ed Tondaligan will be open to all while Galaw na Ogogawwill conduct games for children like guyuran ed buer (tug of war), palo sebo, tumbang preso, luksong tinik, sack race, among others.
Skim boarding will be ushered in with the holding of a clinic and demonstration, to be followed by a competition.
“We are inviting everyone to join our grand opening ceremony at Tondaligan and together let’s enjoy the activities in store for everyone,” said Rafanan. (CIO/JCB)
